Jim,

Thank you for contacting me. I am almost certain that we are related in that you are my fathers' uncle. I have also been in touch with Cyril and I could not make a definite connection at the time. However, there is some very interesting details but dates you have and I have are slightly different but obviously the same people.

Here is my tree so far

Me       George William Hobbins b 1953 St Helens Lancs

Married Margaret Buntin, Shotts Scotland

S       Philip George Hobbins       b 1975 Chester
S       Mark William Hobbins       b 1978 Lincoln
S       Michael Andrew Hobbins b 1983 Lanark
.................S       Connor b 2001 Lanark
S       Steven John Hobbins       b 1985 Lanark

D       Georgia Ward b 1993 Lanark

My Father       George Frederick Hobbins b 1930 Southport, Lancs d 1997 Scotland
Married Margaret Bowe Bradford from Kilsyth, Scotland b 1932 still alive living in Lockerbie

S        George William Hobbins
D       Doreen
D       Elizabeth (Betty)
S       Trevor
S       Colin
S       Gordon
S       Kevin
D       Ruth
S       Brian
S       Eric

All above except me born in Scotland and all with their own children

My Grandfather

George Herbert Hobbins       b 30/4/1905 in Kennilworth d 1946. I have his birth certificate.

Married Emma Ethel Wimbles from Bradford b 1904 d 1996

S       George Frederick
D       Ethel
D       Doreen
D       Doris
D       Barbara

My Grandfather was a haemophilliac and his daughters passed this on to their sons. Not passed through my father.
This would indicate that his mother was the carrier

I believe he is your fathers brother.

My Great Grandfather

William Henry Hobbins b 30/4/1872 at Warwick. No death details. I have copy of birth certificate. (You have as 1874)

Married Gertrude Julia Redman from Kensington at Tewkesbury in 1898. I have Redman family details and at time of my Grandfather birth she could not write as she registered birth with an X Mark.

My Grandfathers birth certificate states General Labourer as occupation of William Henry. They resided at 17 Cross Row, Kennilworth at the time.

Your Father and Michael seem to be brothers of my grandad.

My Great Great Grandfather.

Here is where it gets grey.

William Henry (my great granddad) birth certificate gives Father as Samuel Hobbins, Journeyman Cabinet Maker and mother as
Sarah Ann Hobbins formerly Chamberlain. Address looks like 13 Hand Sheds, Warwick ?????????

You give name as Henry(not Samuel) so therein lies my difficulty. I intend to keep digging but is looking good so far that I will
uncover the connections.

Anyway, if any of this interests you then please don't hesitate to contact me.

Best Regards,

George Hobbins
