Archibald "Archie" Arthur Hodgson Montreal Hockey Great
Does anybody have any personal information on Archie Hodgson - member of the MAAA that won the first 2 Stanley Cups?Hodgson, Archibald "Archie" Arthur
Forward (1893-)
Archie was one of the feared threesome on the 1893 and 1894 cup winning teams of the MAAA.He scored 16 goals over the first 3 seasons. He must have contemplated retiring after the 1894 season. After missing the first 2 games of the 1895 season he was persuaded to return and he notched 6 goals in his 6 games.
Archie may not have been the goal scorer that Routh was, nor the fancy rusher that Barlow was, but he was great at both and was the top set-up man of this feared threesome. His combination of rushing the puck and passing and shooting from the wing helped make this trio one of the best lines in the 1890's.
He was born November 11th, 1869, in Montreal, son of Jonathan Hodgson and Margaret Cassils. He married Mary Fisher McIntyre.Archied died November 21st, 1960, in Montreal.
When Montreal started the 1896 season they did not look the same as Cameron, Hodgson, and Routh were all missing.
