this is some of the info that I have on Hoffner. My Gr Grandfather was George Hoffner he married Margaret Trinkaus in Detroit. George was born in New York. Census state that his mother was French and Father was German. They had a son name George Hoffner who went out west about 1882-1885. I was told he married an indian women. His wife die in child birth or shortly after, he return but no one knows what happen to child. George died in a street car trolly late 1880's.
Family story: It is possible that George brought back child and his mother Margaret and father George Hoffer raised child as there own.I have no proof to back the story up.Anyways the youngest child of George and Margaret ( which could be the daughter of son George name is Henrietta. She married my grandfather Daniel Fournier. Henrietta's sisters used to tease her as being indian.)
I have view the microflim record from the Church of St. Joseph, Detroit, of George Hoffer and Margaret Trinkaus marriage. His name is spell Hoffman not Hoffner. He is listed in the census as Hoffner.
I have never been able to find Henrietta birth record. I have also seen Hoffner spelled as Offner.
Anyone ever heard of this story or could help prove yeah or nay to family story would be a great help.
