Have you been able to tie the Hogan's in Bedford County, VA or historic Pittsylvania County, VA to the Hogan's that were in Bryan Station, KY and (later?) In Garrard County, KY both these area have people that are Irish Type III DNA, My ancestor was from north (historic Pittsylvania) Patrick County, VA near the Bedford County border, before 1800 I have several ancestors that married Briant's in Floyd, Bedford VA Area. DNA is good to prove that people are related not very good of telling when. The more marker test the better it become of telling when. I match group II on the Hogan project and I am tested for 76 markers. So, the issue become I when did the cross over take place in VA, KY, or Ireland. Any one in group II may contact me I will send them a google Doc showing the common markers I have found plus two other Hogan’s that are tested that are not in the FamilytreeDNA Hogan group II. jofbryant@hotmail.com
