I wish there was a Hogan male left in our family, but they are all deceased. My mother (deceased in 1999) was a Hogan and she was the last child in this family of eight left. All of the cousins are female also. I just remember her telling me that her grandfather came from Ireland as best she could remember. But doing this research, it was probably her ggg-grandfather. She couldn't even remember his name and Her father died when she was two years old.
Her family grew up only knowing a couple of her uncles and not much about the Hogan family. Evidently, they didn't talk about their ancestors much. She could only take me back as far as her grandfather (she gave me his name only) and I found out the rest in research after she died. In my immediate family, I only have two female cousins left and neither knew anything about the family. It's been a slow hard process for me but I have gone back to the late 1700's and want to go further.

I have found their ancestors living in Bedford, Botetourt, Craig, Campbell, Pittsylvania and Floyd counties. I need to continue towards Henry, Spotsylvania and Loudoun now.
I just "have a feeling" that they may have a connection to James Hogan in SC, maybe making their way here through Pittsylvania County.
