William Elijah Hogan of Heflin, Alabama

I have a Hogan family history sheet that says William Elijah Hogan who married Nancy Deal migrated to America from Ireland with brothers John (who went to what became Hogansville, Georgia), Ben (who went to Missouri) and Christopher who settled in South Carolina. Data on home pages at ancestry.com suggest that William was born in US as was his father. Which is correct? Anybody know for sure?
