Estate of Joseph Hogain proved in court February 9, 1785. Wife Rebecca, executrix; Witnesses: Sterling Turner; Peter and John Foy; "Bequeath to Jesse, Sarah Gains." Will dated November 18, 1779.

Around the time he wrote his will, his neighbors were: Michael Deloach; John Dugles (Douglas?)Sr. & Jr.; Aaron Weaver; Smallwood Smith; John Davis; Amos Richardson; Peter Foy; Lewis Clark; Thomas Banks; Thomas Delote, Sr.; Frederick Sisson; Josiah Allen; Francis Jones; and others.

Sterling Turner and Peter Foy were killed by "Bloody Cunningham", a Tory who gave no quarter. My question is: How was Joseph Hogan/Hogain/Hogans tied to Jesse and Sarah Gains ? Was Sarah his sister or his daughter or his remarried mother, or what ?
