The Scottish poet, James Hogg was b. 9 Dec 1770 to Robert Hogg and Margaret Laidlaw. He married Margaret Phillips 20 Apr 1820 in Selkirk, Scotland. They had five children, all born in Selkirk:

I am looking for descendants of Fred B. Hoag, b. 15 Jan 1867 in Moriah, Essex Co., NY. He married Effie Taylor c. 1889. He died 22 Mar 1928 in Springfield, Mass. He had two children: Mildred T., b. Nov 1890 in VT and Russell F., b. 7 Oct 1895 in VT, d. Nov 1983 in Long Meadow, MA. The family lived in Vermont, then Michigan, and finally settled in Mass. Fred was the son of Thomas Hoag and Adeline Spring. Family tradition states he was descended from the Scottish poet,
