There is a certain Archibald Holland (born 1778) who married Elizabeth Hagen in Clarke County, GA in 1823.
This Archibald is a son of Jacob Holland (about 1750-Oct. 17, 1815) who married Mary Harrison.
Jacob PERHAPS is a son of Peter Holland and Maria Diggins of Franklin Co., VA fame, but that is mere speculation. What "we" know is that Peter (really he is the second or third Peter), had a son named Jacob born about 1750, but don't know what happened to him.
There is also a lot of speculation about who or which Mary Harrison this is, and to the best of my knowledge, the mystery has not been solved.(A Jacob and Mary also are associated with the Nansemond County, VA Hollands.)
I have not traced Archibald any further becaseu there is a book out there about him, and that family still has family reunions.I was able to prove that he was not in my direct line, but may be a distant relative. (My immediate ancestors are all mixed up into the same area of upstate SC.)
Jacob was a representative to the legislature in GEORGIA, but then in about 1795, his plantation was in an area that was ceded back to South CArolina!Look near the present day town of Townville & Fairplay, SC, along the Tugaloo River...now a reservoir... Hartwell Lake.
good luck, hope this helps!
