Hi, from what I understand the following Hollands came to VA. Edward in 1637, John in 1650, Thomas in 1651, William in 1646 and William in 1650. They had supported King Charles 1 against Cromwell and decided it might be better to leave "Dodge" while they still had their heads. Two Holland Brothers had been given a land grant by Charles which now comprises part of the city of Suffolk, VA. The community is named Holland, VA and still exists. In the early 1700 hundreds Englad needed a buffer zone between the English Colony in VA and the Spanish in FL. They encouraged colonists to occupy land in NC, SC, and GA and were provided free land to relocate. Jacob Holland, Jr lived in Wilkinson County, GA along with his sister, Abra who married Dury Rogers Clark. From there Jacob moved to either Houston or Stewart County, GA. They all apparently left GA at some period and lots of them ended up in Bartow, FL. Hope this helps. I can't verify all this as it was sent to me but from the little I have uncovered it sounds very plausible. My greatgrandmother was Effie Jackson Holland, her father was Elisha Jackson Holland and his father was Wiley Thomas Holland. Linda
