I know you posted this a long time ago, but I hope you or someone else will find this helpful or may be able to help me.

My father-in-law's grandfather was Marion Franklin Holloman (sometimes spelled Holleman, depending on the record). He was born in 1891 in New Hanover Co., NC, Wilmington area. He had a brother named Archie B. Holleman, born around 1894. They are listed in the 1900 New Hanover Co. Census as sons of A. J. (B: Jan 1868 in NC) and M. W. (B: Dec 1866 in NC) Holloman. When I originally found this info, M. W. was listed as "Nile" on Familysearch.org, but I looked at the hand-written record on their pilot program and based on a comparison of the hand writing on various records on the same page, I think it was meant to be M. W. You can look at it and determine for yourself. They had 3 siblings; Lucy J (B: 1892), Chauncy (B: 1897), and Sue Ellen (B: 1899).

I was hoping if I found out more about Archie or Chauncy that I could find more info on their parents. Chauncy B. Holliman was listed as a brother-in-law with the family he was residing with on the 1920 New Hanover Census record, but I could not see the name of the family he was living with, so I don't know if he lived with one of his sisters or with his wife's family. That was all I found for him.

Archie B is listed as living in Spartanburg, NC on the 1917-1918 WWI registration records. Again, the search ended there, until I read your message. I think your Archie Bro Holleman Jr. was his son, so maybe I will find something in VA about him.

Marion Franklin Holleman's records are hard to make out as well because the last name spelling keeps changing and he usually lists himself as M. F. He was married to Annie Lee Rogers and I believe she died in 1917. A. L. Holleman, wife of M. F. Holleman is buried with Clerance Holleman in the Sasser & Talton Cemetary, Pikeville, Wayne Co., NC. He was listed as married to Luvina Herring. She died in 1946 and is buried in Flynn Cemetary in Columbus Co. along with some of my fil's other family members, but Marion Franklin is not among them. He may be in Forest Lawn where other Hollomans are buried, but I have to have my mil take me there to see since that record is not online. I think my fil said he lived in Rocky Mount area when my fil was growing up. His family didn't have much contact with Marion.

Marion's children with Annie were Charles Franklin, Clerance (who died as a baby) and someone my fil called Uncle Tip. He has no idea what Tip's real name was or how old he was. He could have also lived in the Rocky Mount area. I saw no children listed with Luvina (also spelled Louvina on at least one record).

For their dad, A. J. Holloman, I found an 1880 Census record from Sampson County that lists a Joab Holoman with the same birth year living with J. B. Westbrook as a farm hand. M. W. could be "Maggie" Westbrook, J. B. Westbrook's daughter. I can find nothing else on him or her, such as a marriage or death record. A search for people born in NC named "Nile" turned up empty as well.

I hope this helps, and please let me know if you find any thing else out. If anyone else has any corrections or anything to add, I would appreciate it. I would love to know more about A. J. Holloman and who his parents were. I only know he listed them as born in NC.
