I am a Holleman from Durham, NC. My grandfather, Alvin Holleman Sr., was also from Durham. My grandfather had a brother or half-brother named Victor. My great-grandparents Holleman had an interesting life and marriage. . . Between the two of them, they had some 15 children. I believe both of them (Julius Holleman being my great-grandpa's name, can't recall of the top of my head what my great-grandma's name was) had been married and widowed before they married one another. They each brought children to their marriage. My great-grandmother apparently ran some kind of bording house "in town" while raising all of those children. Julius preferred "country living" and did not always live with the family "in town". My grandfather, Alvin, was part of the second group of children. . . not being one of those brought to the marriage. I was just visiting this site, and have not really done so much research. This is what I know off the top of my head. Alvin Holleman was born in 1921 and died a few years ago.

I do not know if the Victor is the same one as your husband's father though.
