Thanks, James. This should help me get back on the track of finding the parents of Lydia Hollifield. I'm sure there's a connection since Lydia named her children Wiley, Lafayette and Tempie. The names, Wiley & Lydia, show up in the Daniel-Mary Pye line of the family. I'm suspecting that Wiley, and perhaps Tempie were named for respected aunts and uncles.

If I get a chance to go to North Carolina, what area do suggest I go to?

Lydia was born around 1830, said she had come from "over the mountain" and mentioned Yancy and Buncomb Counties. and had Wiley in Valle Crucis in 1850.

There's a highway, US 19E, and state 194 that travels from those counties up to Valle Crucis.

Would Spruce Pine be a place to start? Where did Daniel & Mary Pye live?

Thanks, and I'll get that letter off to William.

Sandy Anderson
