Thanks, Pat, for posting about the three Hollifield sisters in response to my Hollifield GenForum query. It looks like you're right, with William of 1745 alleged to be the father of Minerva (1759), Susannah (1762) and Cecelia. The ages really don't work.

This posting of yours: Journal of N.C. Genealogy, Summer of 1966, pp 1672-1678, on p. 1674 there is listed one "William Holyfield ... born @1745. he was the father of Emsey, Eady S., Jacob, William Austin, Isaac, Esom, and Elijah Hollifield. The family lived in Chester County, South Carolina, in 1790. In the 1790s they moved to Rutherford County, North Carolina. Between 1810 and 1820 most of the family moved to Burke county (now Mitchell and McDowell counties)." from Pat, #189, Hollifield Genforum

makes it seem that the Jacob listed here as the son of William, might not be the Jacob, brother to the three sisters.

If the father of William (1745) is Daniel (1720), he conceivably could be the father to William (1745), Minerva (1759), Susannah (1762), Cecilia and Rev. Jacob (1775).

I currently see 4 Jacobs who need to be accounted for:
Jacob, b. ~ 1775 m. Elizabeth Stone & Nancy Leake, brother to Minerva, Susannah & Cecelia, father unknown
Jacob, b. unknown who is the son of William b. 1745
Jacob, b. 1798, son of William Austin, m. Flora McKinney
Jacob, b. 1816 m. Elender Crisp, in Caldwell Co. 1850 Census, father unknown

I wish the Jacob, son of William b. 1745 could be the one who married Elender Crisp, but that doesn't work either.

Thanks again. Sandy
