Between John's RW pension and the Tax Lists for Rowan Co. and Surry Co. I have my Padgetts pinpointed to militia Dists. Deed records, of course, would be even more helpful by naming waterways. Since Surry Co. was created from Rowan Co., I doubt that there was even a physical move involved. Only the county line moved. LOL
John Padgett and two of his brothers all married the 3 Hollifield sisters who lived in Chester Co., SC. I believe that the girls' father was a William and their brother was Rev. Jacob??? John married Cecelia Hollifield which has been documented per one of the books on early preachers of the area as well as the personal statement from Rev. Lee. We never have found any mention of a marriage record, but that is normal for SC since they were not required until the 20th Century. We do know that they had 4 daus by the 1790 Chester Co. SC census. Nemehiah Padgett was born after the census was taken in 1790. He shows up on the 1800 census.
