What I'm writing below about Surry Co., may not fit since you say your Padgetts left earlier for Chester Co., SC. Our Hollifields seem to have gone in large part from Virginia to Wake Co., NC, then on to Surry Co., Chester, SC, Burke Co., NC and maybe Georgia, but we'll need dates to pin anything down. I hope this helps a little bit.

If you go to the Holyfield GenForum #203, you'll see a family tree laid out. Jim Holifield and I worked to put it together. Later information will correct it to show that Valentine(1) and Elizabeth also had a daughter, Elizabeth, in addition to Ralph, William Orson, Daniel and Valentine(2). There are two sets of Hollifields who lived in Surry County for a while:

Valentine(2) married Eleanor.
On July 13,1762, Eleanor, wife of Valentine Holyfield-deceased; relinquishes her right to her estate.

Valentine died, leaving Eleanor a widow in 1762,but in 1762, their son Valentine(3)was only 6 years old (he was born in 1756), so 6 year old Valentine(3) had to wait till he was 9 years old in 1765 to be old enough to be bound out to an adult male to be taught a trade even though Eleanor was still living! Valentine(3)was sent to "Robert Sanford on April 10, 1765 to learn him the trade of a Weaver". (Jim's words.)

Valentine(3) married Henny Noland 13 Apr 1789 in Rowan Co. and I only know of a daughter, Ann, born bef. 1791.

Meanwhile, Ralph, also had a son, Valentine, who married Susannah in 1784 in Wake Co., NC. He died March 8, 1820 in Surry Co., and Susannah died March 03, 1844 in Surry Co. Their children, as I have them listed are:
Mary, 1776; William, 1778; Ralph, June 9, 1780; Valentine, Jr., 1782, Daniel, 1784, Susannah, 1786, Jemimah, 1788, Watson, March 18, 1791, Nelly, 1793, Elizabeth, 1796; and John, 1798.

Maybe somewhere among those Hollifields in Surry Co. you can find some who connect with your information on the Padgetts.

The 1790 Census for Chester Co., SC has some Hollifields and Padgetts living near each other. Earlier, if some Padgetts were also in Wake Co., NC, we had quite a few Hollifields living there, and there may be a connection.

Hope these help you on your quest.
