This is information that researched and pasted on to me...
The Orange County, North Carolina tax record of 1761 list William and Ralph Holyfield, and the acquired land by grant in Orange County, now Wake County, North Carolina in 1795.
Ralph was married to Jemima when living in Virginia and he left his estate to her and a grandson in 1795, Wake County, North Carolina. The grandson Sion Holyfield moved to Mississippi.
Being the only Holyfield in the area we find Daniel who we believe is the son of Ralph.
Daniel received a land grant 1779 Wake County and purchased land in 1782.In the 1790 census of Wake County there was a Elizabeth with children William, Willis, John, Polly and Joseph.
Daniel died before 1790.
William Holyfield married Patsy Thomas in 1801 and Willis married Nancy Goodson in 1804, Wake County, John married and moved to Georgia, and Joseph who was born in 1775 married Nancy Grant in 1802, Wake County.
Willis who married Nancy Grant are generally thought to be the parents of Daniel W. Holderfield, who was born 1804-1810 and died 1888. He was married to Ann King, 1828, Wake County, North Carolina.
Also in the area was Richard Holderfield who married Narcissa Moore, 1844, Wake County and Valentine Holyfield who married in 1789 a Miss Nolan, Rowan County, North Carolina.
