I have neither read the Holliman book nor am I sure in which country the John Holliman you refer to lived.

The earliest John Holliman (spelt Holyman) I have come accross was born in 1495 and died in 1558/9. He was born in Cuddington, Buckinghamshire, England and went into the church. He was staunchly against the divorce of King henry Viii from Catherine of Aregon.

He was Bishop of Bristol from 1554 - 1558/9. he was buried at hanborough Church, Woodstock, Oxford and left a will dated 4 June 1558 in which he pronounced himself "hole of mynde and sommewhat sicke of bodie".

I hope that the above assists

regards
