PERSONAL
Mrs. BRYAN, accompanied by Carrol WRIGHT, returned to her home at Menlo
Monday.
J. W. HOLLINGER, County Surveyor, is here laying out an addition to the town
plat for the Tiffin Bank and D. & A. B. STEARNS.
Mrs. HOSIER and Miss HEILMAN, of Derby, were in town Saturday, the guests of
Mrs. AMOS. They were her on Juvenile Temple work.
Comrades J. C. SMITH and J. W. METZ, accompanied by Pete HUDDLESTON, went in
Keokuk Monday to take in the G. A. R. Encampment.
Master Jimmie ALEXANDER, who came from Hastings with his Grandmother BUFFUM
week before last and stopped at Leon, came up on Monday on a visit to friends
here.
Our jeweler, J. C. WARNER, went to Leon a couple of weeks ago and as a result
of the visit he had the mumps. His brother Joseph is looking after the shop
this week.
Robert WRIGHT, who has been at his father's for the past ten days, started
for his home at Tacoma yesterday. His youngest brother will come as soon as he
reaches home.
Rev. MORROW, agent for the Children's Education Society at Davenport, was in
town Sunday night. He delivered a short but interesting address at the
Eppworth League Sunday evening.
Prof. and Mrs. J. R. DUNHAM came Tuesday afternoon. They have a free concert
Wednesday evening of this week with a view of organizing a musical
convention. We hope our people will take an interest in this matter and give it their
patronage, as Mr. DUNHAM is an eminent vocal instructor.
We, together with our better half and youngest hopeful, Net, visited Garden
Grove, Saturday. We met several families there from the vicinity of Weldon.
And we must admit, that the crowd was as large as we usually have in Weldon on
Saturdays. Everybody busy. - Messenger
Yes. Bro. SMITH, this town is strictly in it as a trading point. People for
a good many miles around come to trade at Garden Grove. They have splendid
stocks of goods to select from, and what is the drawing card they can buy what
they want at bedrock prices.
