Holloway / Edmonds connection
My husband's ancestors were in the 1850 census of Monroe County, Tennessee. They are as follows:
George EDMUNDS (48), his wife Mary (45), their children: Ann (28), Jane (22), Mary (20), Louisa (16), Elendor (13), Jacob (10), John (9), and Minter (1) - all born in Tennessee.
This same family is in the 1860 census of Union County, Illinois (close to Pope County) as follows:
George EDMONDS (58), wife Mary (55), children: Louisa (25), elinor (23), Jacob H. (19), Minter H. (11).
They had two older sons, Allen and Thomas. Thomas married Adeline Felts in 1847 in Bradley County, Tennessee, and migrated with her family to Union County, Illinois, before 1850. I do not find Allen in 1850, but he is also in Union County, Illinois, in 1860.
By 1870, I assume that George & Mary Edmonds are dead, because I found their son John (age 27) and his wife Jane (Ellis) in the 1870 census of POPE County, Illinois. Living with them is Minter (age 21). And here's the interesting part: They are living next door to a Holloway family. Carrie Holloway (female - age 41), June (13), Pemela (12), Andrew (7), and Amanda (4).
Is it possible that George Edmonds' wife, Mary, was a daughter to Minter & Marjory Holloway? Or related in some other way? Notice Minter Edmonds' middle initial. Was his full name Minter Holloway Edmonds? I have wondered about this for some time. Any thoughts?
