We used Familytreedna.com - I assume that is the same group that you mentioned? My case was a little strange, because my great-grandfather had been in trouble with the law (in 1879) and had changed his name, though family stories always said the his real name was Holloway. One of his brothers had ALSO changed his surname. That brother was definitely traced to the Holloway line through family letters. My grand-grandfather was only SUSPECTED of being in this group.Luckily, my brother was a direct male descendent, and we were able to find a direct male descendent of my great-grandfather's brother who also agreed to be tested. They matched. So - even though NEITHER of them is named Holloway, we know that they do indeed come from the Holloway line.We never expected to know the truth of my great-grandfather's past, but now (after at least 10 years of MY research and countless others by my aunt and cousin) we know. That always gives me hope when I come upon a brick wall in some other family line.I'll keep looking for Mary's family.Something may turn up one day.Ya never know!
