Follow-up: have since found...
(a) family maps that show that James Hollaway's 1834 grant in Macon (assigned to Edmund Burton) was 1 mile from Benjamin Whittenburg's 1843 grant in Macon County, and his 1837 grant 6 miles from the grants of Daniel, Jacob, and Benjamin in Monroe. (Benjamin Whittenburg married Rebeccas Adaline Holloway in Macon).
(b) The probate records of Nancy A. Hollaway who I believe is Rebecca's mother. I've long surmised that the Thomas T. Hollaway that married Marintha Dabney was a brother to Rebecca Hollaway. The Dabneys, Thomas and James (a younger James) Holloway moved a few miles north to Appanoose county, Iowa. Nancy's probate shows James and Thomas applying for administration August 26, 1850. One probate index shows a much later date but every document is dated from August 1850 to Dec 1850;
(c) Other court documents linking James H. to Nancy's mother;
(d) A really wild land document tha would even suggest/hint John E. Holloway (in the previous post) may have had a daughter named Zachary Taylor Hollaway... almost always considered a child of Thomas T. Holloway. However, Zachary T.was not listed in Thomas T. Holloway's 'List of Heirs' in his probate. The land document explicitly lists a Nancy J. Holloway - Her death certificate identifies this Nancy as the dau of Joel Morris - and Zachary T. as the dau of John Holloway. But that is another mystery for another time. Note: I'm officially listing this as a hmmmm, and nothing more :-)
Still would like proof, and would welcome any original documents that you want to share. Likewise if you would like a jpg image of the family maps, or part of Thomas T.'s probate, I can email them to you...
Also, I've seen many rootsweb and IGI listings for Thomas T. Holloway... but missing birth dates, death dates, etc. If you are a Thomas T. Holloway or James Holloway (married Louisa Dale) researcher, I will be glad to send data on cemetery, probate records, etc.
