WILL OF NICHOLAS HOLSTEIN, Oct 9, 1769, Proved Aug 1774, Granville Co, NC
Abstracts of The Wills and Estate Records of Granville County, NC 1746-1808
Oct 9, 1769 Proved August 1774
Nicholas Holstein wills to his son JACOB 280 acres, together with the plantation whereon I now live, a gun and a sword; to my son John, all remainder of my land in Granville Co, NC; to daughter CATHERINE, a cow and a calf; the remainder of my estate divided to my daughters: CATHERINE, MARY, SUSANNAH, BARBARA, ELIZABETH Holstein.
Executers: William Oglivie, Hentry Wideman.
Witnesses: Robert Harris, Lavender Harris
The will does not list a wife, and I have a copy of the actual will and read it through, BUT, the record of the sale of the estate of Nicholas Holston in 1774 lists as buyers, among many names, "WIDOW Holstein" meaning there was a wife. No first name. Also "MARY Holstein" is listed as a buyer.

Does anyone know of the gravesite of this Nicholas Holstein and his wife?I believe Nicholas immigrated from Germany. He gave permission for his underage daughter Catherine to marry by writing in German.(Shows a German Signature of Niclauss Hostein with marriage (father of Catherine))
Does anyone have any further information on this Nicholas Holstein (or Niclauss Hostein) and his wife's name?I already know son Jacob Holstein who married Catherine Strador on Feb 17, 1780 in Granville, CO NC and have posted his will in a separate posting.
Thank you,
Gina Foster
