We have a database of (and publications about) 27,000 descendants of 1749 Swiss immigrant Hans Jacob Honaker, from whom most American Honakers descend. The first Honaker in Mt. Orab, Ohio was John M., a gunsmith, second American generation (grandson of the immigrant). We do not conclusively know your Julia but believe she probably was the Julie who was one of six children of Andrew Jackson and Amanda (Unknown) Honaker. Andrew was a son of John M. He and his wife and four of the six children are buried in Mt. Orab Cemetery. Julie and Lee, the other two children, are not buried there and nothing was known of them until your information about Julia.

How came you by the information that your Julia was born in Mt. Orab?

We keep ongoing track of queries. If you would like to be notified if and when we make a positive identification of your Julia, send your permanent postal address (it may be years from now). We will send you an information packet now, and will respond to your query in the future if the address is still valid then.

The first American born in this line, incidentally, was Abraham, one of the first American gunsmiths, who has a magnificant firearm at Colonial Williamsburg's DeWitt-Wallace Gallery.

With good wishes for success in your search. Your cousin, Tom Hanlin, volunteer, Honaker Family Assn., Inc., P.O. Box 3636, Alexandria VA 22302-0636, 703-751-7321.
