The line is known back to the middle ages in Switzerland. Your first Honaker immigrant was Hans Jacob Honegger (Honaker) who sailed from Zurich and landed at Philadelphia in August 1749. You are descended from his famed gunmaker son Abraham, who was born at Waterlick in the upper Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. I was on that old family land just last week. Hans Jacob, Abraham[1], Samuel C.[2], Peter Abraham[3], George Franklin Abraham[4], Delbert Lester[5], Mary Lue[6], Kimberly Sue[7].

Delbert was the third of seven children born to George Franklin Abraham and Louetta (Tracey) Honaker. We have Albert Lee as the youngest, but with no reported children.

I think your best bet would be to get Honaker Family in America, 1,437 pp., $66.50 postpaid, and our picture of views of an Abraham rifle, $6. This particular rifle, the only one we know of still in existence, is at Colonial Williamsburg, Va. There is a substantial amount of research in the book and its appendices that applies to the Abraham line.

We have your mother as Mary Lue[6] Honaker Gray. Is the middle name correct as spelled, or should it be Sue? We are missing dates and places on the last several generations, including your grandparents, mother and uncle, and your generation. We do not have any marriages or children for your generation, either.

You may contact me at Honaker Family Assn., P.O. Box 3636, Alexandria, VA 22302, or at 703-751-7321, if you are interested in the book or able to help us fill out the information for the last few generations.

With kind regards, your cousin, Tom Hanlin, volunteer.
