What would life be without complications. We had Evan, but with a different first spouse and only one reported child, not Lucy. Now we have your reported first spouse who died the same date as Minnie, and we have Lucy, not previously known to us:
Supplement to Honaker Family in America:
71. Evan Honaker (John, Isaac, Martin). Born 1 May 1858 in Russell Co., Va. Died 19 Nov 1934. He worked for the railroad.
He married, first, Polly Emmeline Gilbert, daughter of James Gilbert and Lavinia Unknown, 4 Sep 1883 in Russell County. Born 1865. Died 8 Nov 1918. His first wife was also reported as Minnie C. Yates. Born 6 Oct 1873. Died 8 Nov 1918 as was the other first reported wife. Children:
240. i. Carter.
He married, second, Maggie Griffith, daughter of John Griffith and Ruthie Unknown, 14 Feb 1888 in Russell County. They were married by James Dye. Born 1869.
I suggest you go back to Aunt Lois and see how much of the above sounds familiar. Anything is possible. Our information, though pretty specific, may be wrong. Or Aunt Lois may have mixed it up a little.
It would help if Lois could fill in everything she knows about this family, including names of all the kids who were Lucy's siblings and was one of them a Carter.
From you it would be helpful to know your exact date & place born (city, county, state); names of your siblings, exact date & place they were born; place your mom and dad were born (city if any, county, state), place your dad died, name & place of cemetery, copy of his obit with name of newspaper if known, exact date & place your parents married, your mother's father's full name and her mother's mother's full maiden name.
If you are able to do this, you may send it to me at firstname.lastname@example.org or by mail to our Alexandria, Va., p.o. box. We sure appreciate the help.
As far as I know there is only one Evan, so I hope we can get the first spouse straightened out, and determine Lucy's mother.
