Honaker Family Genealogy Forum
I appreciated your quick response to my posting and found the information helpful. I am wanting to give you accurate and comprehensive information on Michael and his descendents, and I still have not been able to collect all of the pertinent information. I plan on traveling to Harrison County, IA to do some research on him. Michael was married at least twice; I had heard he married three times: First to Sarah M. Burdett (4 children born to their union; she is my blood ancestor), Eliza Ellis (more children born to their union), and then he had more children with another wife. He outlived the first 2 wives, but I have not been able to track down information on his third wife, the mother of his youngest 3 children: Earnest, Mable, and Eva. I know that Anna Honaker, the woman he was listed as being in the same household with in the 1895 Harrison county website is not the biological mother of the youngest 3 children, as Michael and Anna are listed as white and the children are listed as half-white. I do remember my great-great aunt telling our family that we had a little "Indian" in us, and I wonder if she was referring to this mystery wife (although she was not a blood relative). Aunt Esther had quite a sense of humor).
Please know that I am working on piecing everything together as best I can; and when it is ready, I will send you all of the pertinent information. You can also reach me at my address, and I welcome the opportunity to discuss the family further. It is a fascinating topic that I am having fun researching--
