The Hopton's who lived in Chester Co., in the part that is now Delaware Co., in the early 1700s are not closely related to the Hopton's who moved to Chester Co. from Montgomery Co. in the 1790s. My ancestor was Edward Hopton who moved from Montgomery Co. with his son Joseph and possibly a son named Edward in the mid 1790s. Joseph had several sons, William, Lewis, Edwin, Joseph, and George. Are you connected to any of these Hoptons'?
