This must be one of the other Abner Hoptons, and not Abner Hopton the Doctor who was married twice, first wife unknown and second wife in 1847 (Holly Springs Gazette: Jan 29, 1847. Married in Memphis, Tenn on 20th January at the residence of D. S. Greer, Esq. by Rev. Mr. Alston, Dr. A. Hopton to Miss Susam M. Porter, daughter of the late Gen. Richard Porter of Paris, Tenn.). Since Abner Hopton, MD is listed in the 1860 and 1870 in St. Louis County, he could not have died earlier. There were at least 3 Abner Hoptons, one is his son, which is also listed in the 1870 census. There was another Abner Hopton, son of Aaron and Nancy Ann Reynolds Hopton born about 1805 in Tennessee. Perhaps this is the one whose will was probated in Gasconade County, Missouri who married Margaret Flake.
Donna, who are the parents of the Abner Hopton you were talking about?
