Hopton Family Genealogy Forum

I just noticed your msg. I have a great deal of info on the Hopton's in England. The first recordings of the Hopton's was in Shorpshire where the family was granted lands by Duke William of Normandy for their distinguished assistance at The Battle of Hastings in 1066 A.D. The Hopton's were recorded as a family of great antiquity seated with manors & estates in Hopton of Shorpshire. The junior line of Sir William of Hopton, Nicholas was descended through Sir Walter, Sir Henry, Sir Peter, Sir Walter, Sir John, in continous descenday to William Hopton of Hopton about 1600. Sir Richard Hopton was High Sherriff or Herfordshire. Richard, his descendat was High Sheriff of Herefored in 1787. Most prominent at this time was Lord Hopton of Stratton. I have a great deal more info & have found a Hopton Castle in England. If you would like me to e-mail this info, let me know.
