Recent Y-DNA tests have proven that Michael Borders (who married Mary Hopton) was born Michael Bader 1751 GER, the s/o Matthias (1707 GER) & Anna Maria Bader, who brought their family from Jettenburg, Kingdom of Wuerttemberg, Germany, to Philadelphia on 10 Oct 1752 and settled in Lancaster Co PA. When Michael (and his brother George 1733 GER)moved to Virginia, the German Bader was anglicised to Border/Borders. Michael & his father-in-law John Hopton moved to what became Greene Co TN, where John died, and Michael moved on to South Carolina & finally to what became Jackson Co GA.
