Hi Chris,

Just found your posting for William Horrocks & Jane Hunter. I am not sure if I am right yet, but, I have been trying to find the birth of my great great grandfather George Horrocks.

On the 1881 census it says ...
George HORROCKS M 39 M York, York, England
Rel: Head Occ: Coal Miner

On the 1891 census it says ...
George HORROCKS <Head> <M> 49 - Coal Miner - Yks. ?Gazles?

I couldn't decipher ?Gazles? as the writing was quite curly if you know what I mean.

An old Aunt told me George was born 26th September 1841 but when I looked in the St Catherine House Indexes for births, the only one I could come up with was George HUNTER Horrocks!!!

Do you think they could belong to the same family? If so, what do we do now??

In anticipation, Vanda Hopwood (Isle of Wight, UK).
