We now know the parents of Ellen Horrocks were William Horrocks, born c. 1795 in Blackley, and Susannah Heywood, born c. 1800 in Ashton, Lancashire, England. They were married January 26, 1824 in Mancheter Cathedral, and had the following children:
- James Horrocks, born May 24, 1825 in Newton Heath
- Hannah Horrocks, b. about 1826, m. Isaac Tetlow
- Samuel Horrocks, b. about 1830
- Sarah Horrocks, b. April 29, 1832 in Blackley
- Mary Horrocks, b. July 13, 1834, m. Edward Anderson
- Henry Horrocks, b. about 1836
- Alice Horrocks, b. Feb. 10, 1840, Newton, m. Aaron Walmsley
- Ellen Horrocks, b. Sept. 25, 1842, Failsworth, m. William Hulton.
