My ancesters are connected to "The Horrocks Millions". My gr-gr grandfather was James Horrocks born 27.1 .1805 in Scholes Wigan .He was the son of another James Horrocks and his wife Ellen Wood (ne Tabley) who was also a Ford heiress. He was orphaned when he was 9 years old and went up to Durham County to be educated in a Catholic Seminary at Usher Moor. He died in 1875 at Castle Eden add was buried in the church yard there.
I too am anxious to know more about the family of Jeremiah. In my handed down information the claim was that William Horrocks (early 1600's) was Jeremiah's father but now it has proved incorrect. I do believe that John who is now said to be the parent was a brother of William. At one time my grandmother had a will belonging to William. But alas it has gone the way of lots of my documants. If anyone recognises this Horrocks Family please contact me.
