Hello All,
I am attempting to coordinate both a DNA surname study AND a One-Name-Study on the Horrocks surname.
There is a central website set up, www.horrocksgenealogy.com, as a focal point. There are 3 different areas on the website:
1. DNA Study – This is where Horrocks MALES will be able to apply for a Y-DNA test through FamilyTreeDNA. Right now I am the only Horrocks that has information on file. All Horrocks males are encouraged to take the test.
2. One-Name-Study – The one name study is registered with the Guild of One-Name Studies in London (www.one-name.org). I will attempt to compile as much Horrocks genealogical research as possible and post it for everyone to see and use. HOWEVER, it will only succeed if you contribute your information.
3. Family Trees, Links, & Statistics – Here I will put other family trees that are currently on the web that have significant Horrocks information. I will also put links to general genealogy websites along with Horrocks specific websites. I will attempt to gather as much statistical information on the Horrocks surname as possible. Again, for this to be successful, you have to contribute your research.
I want this to be a site you can visit and feel free to contribute to. I am wide open to suggestions on how to make it better.
