Among papers left me by my grandmother, I found one sent by "Mr Albert Horrocks, Scranton P.A.U.S.A" It isn't dated but is written on paper with the 'Cunard Line' printed at the top. Some details from it; Dear cousin John (one of our family ancestors)," I guess that you will be surprised to get this letter from a full cousin from America" "I am very well know in Wigan, in fact the best known of all the Horrocks family. Old Matt's son.I am the son of the late Matthew Horrocks, the Mathew Horrocks who furnished all the money to fight the same case the last time it as in court." " I am writing this letter on the steam ship 'Seythis' " It is signed Albert Horrocks etc This Albert was the youngest son of Matthew Horrocks b1832 and his wife Mary Anne Hitchen married 1878. I have also got a document which tells of Albert's wife Ellen (aged 38 years) and 2 children (Annie age 13years and Edith aged 11years) arriving in Ellis island on 24 feb 1914 having travelled on the 'Carmania'from Liverpool to join Albert E.Horrocks Scranton P.A. I would very much like to contact any descendants of this family Freda Cooke, Leeds, Yorkshire. Notify Administrator about this message?
