I would assume that this Martha Horrocks was born in 1789-1790 if she was 18 when she did the work in 1808 does that fit with either of your Marthas.

This was in the family for years and I always assumed in came from my Dad's side of the family from New England.

However, it may have come from my Mother's side, which in fact was from Philadelphia!

There is nothing too unique about the sampler, although it is not an alphabet sampler.

It has a number of designs,including hearts, birds, what may be cats, flowers and 9 pine trees across the piece above her name, age and date.
