I have traced my ancestry back to William COCK c.1772-1848 married Alice HORROCKS c.1777-1834 in 1798 at St Nicholas Plumstead, Kent.
Their eldest son Samuel COCK 1799-1874 married Frances WENBORN 1796-1872 in 1823 at Plumstead.Samule was my gt gt gt grandfather,he was an inland revenue officer and a gentleman. his brother Rev. Horrocks COCK 1818-1888 was an Independent minister, and in his biography, from the Register of Dissenting Ministers, it says that his mothers people were wealthy manufacturers in Preston.Family tradition is that they are related to the cotton manufacturer John HORROCKS 1768-1804 of Bolton-Le-Moors. Burkes Landed gentry no help. Any one know of Alice Horrocks born around 1777? her parents names likely to be Samuel & Rachel.
