Perhaps you already know this but there was a book published here in the UK in 1971 "The Muscovite" by Alison Macleod - publisher Hodder & Stoughton ISBN 0 340 10776 6.

Whilst the book is a novel it is supposedly based largely on fact and concerns the life of Jerome Horsey - an English merchant sent to Russia in 1573.

I guess the book is now out of print but I have a copy.
