William Harvey Horton, b ca 1852, Tn
Am searching for the parents of William Harvey Horton, b ca 1852, Tn. He md Rowena Gibbons and the family is on the 1880 McClennan Co Tx Census.According to family lore, William left the family shortly thereafter and went back to Tn.His wife is found still in Mc Clennan Co living with her family on the 1900 and 1910 Censuses, but we can't find anything on William Harvey.I thought I had found a land record today that tied in, but so far no luck. It involves a WH Horton, Shelby Co Tn.He is selling some land that belonged to the heirs of Hilliard T (I assume Hilliard Terry) that was granted to the family by the Sec of War in 1841.I guess Hilliard died in the service, as he was only 27 in 1832, and the survivors were granted this land on Tehuacana Creek, right outside of Waco.I had originally thought WH was probably our William Harvey, but can't find him anywhere in the descendants of Henry Cato Horton. Now I am wondering if the WH Horton in the record was actually William Henry Horton, brother of Hilliard Terry instead. The land was sold in 1881, and if still alive William Henry was ca 68 years old.I don't find any death date for this William Henry. If anyone has any knowledge on this subject, please let me know.I also am researching the Hortons in Hancock Co Tn ca 1860, as there is a William H Horton, son of Hiram Horton who is about the right age of our William Harvey. All we know is that our William Harvey was from Tn and his parents were from Va and Tn. The family then ended up in McClennan and Bosque Counties in Tx.Any help is greatly appreciated and any leads are welcome. Thanks in advance. Also, if anyone would like a copy of the above mentioned document, let me know.Jeannette Crow, Waco, Tx.
