Joseph Horton of Long Island/VT
Posted by: Jeannette Masear (ID *****0708) Date: February 18, 2012 at 12:52:14
  of 6875

A letter from a decendant (Betsey Field Jepsen) states that her mother told her that they were of Wales, Long Island, NY, before moving to VT. Some of the children of Joseph and Harriet (1st cousins), of Pownal, Bennington, VT moved to IL, IA.
There are so many Joseph Horton's in the area and of close in ages (b: 1778 died 62 years of age on 26 Aug 1840 and buried in Jepson Farm cemetery. Found on the 1810/1820/1830 Federal Census for Pownal, VT and Harriet is found as a widow in 1840 & 1850 Pownal, VT. Said to be born in CT.

Any assistance as to the parents of Joseph and Harriet Frances Horton would be greatful.

Thanks in advance, Jeannette
