Will pass on what we know and what we think we know. I have never seen any documentation that his name was actually Stephen Wesley, just Stephen W. His date of birth is also very fluid as I will show later. He was born before 1830 in Jasper Co, GA. There are 3 Hortons there in 1830, John, his brother Elisha, and Elisha's son William. John and Elisha both named a son Stephen, John's was Stephen H; Elisha has been listed as Stephen W's father, partially by default. Elisha's will was written 23 Dec 1853(from Janet Allen Braley). In it he names wife Elizabeth and 6 kids:
Sally Fay
Penelope (listed in my transcription as Pernia)
Robert Ivey
Harris
Stephen
Seaborn Wesley
In 1884, William Horton filed legal documents asserting that he was also Elisha's heir. 7 Known kids. Not impossible that Elisha would name one son Seaborn Wesley and another Stephen Wesley, but interesting. As you stated Stephen m Nancy Ann Cauley 13 Jan 1844 and had 3 kids, 2 survived to adulthood. Stephen was a miner in Lumpkin Co, GA. He and Nancy seperated/divorced and she remarried to Jesse Ireland. Stephen moved to work in the mines in El Dorado Co, CA where he died in 1907.
