Information about places Eastern Europe
Posted by: Frédéric ORVAT Date: April 17, 2001 at 06:22:48

Hi from France.

The H from Horvat was (unfortunately)lost in the early 19th century.
My ancestor, Stephann Horvath originaly came from Eastern Europe (Former Austrian Hungarian Empire) from a place called Katrov or Catrof or Tistolophan (sound like...). Does any of thes places ring a bell to you ?
He joined the French Revolutionary Armies in 1793 or 1794 and later, settled in France where he gave birth to many (H)Orvat's.
My father and I are really trying to find the place of origin. If anyone can help...

Thank u very much !
