Hi John!
Since I wrote that first entry from which you took that information, I have learned a lot, but it has come from researching the Drakes. For sure I have the Drakes back to 1760, and tentatively I have them back to the 1500s. I now believe William and Hulda Jane Hosmer to be HUSBAND AND WIFE rather than brother and sister. I found William Hosmer and wife Jane in the Porter Township, Pike County, PA, in 1860 and the Palmyra township, Pike County, PA, in 1870. They had their daughters with them.
Redman Drake married Tabitha Watson and had Edwin E. (Aug. 1838), Nancy (Oct. 1839), John (Jun. 1841), Joshua (Mar. 1845), Emily Jane (abt. 1847), Melissa Adelia (abt. 1850), Stephen (Jan. 1854), Susan (abt. 1856), Ellen Blanche (Nov, 1859), and Elizabeth H. (abt. 1867). John Drake married Mary Jane Hosmer and had Hulda E. (Feb. 1867), Benjamin Frank[lin?] (Sep. 21, 1874), and Susan Jane (Oct. 6, 1878). Joshua Drake married Josephine Hosmer and had Phoebe J. (Mar. 29, 1876), TabithaIsabelle (Dec. 29, 1879), Christopher J. (Jun. 1883), Robert Ephraim (Jul. 1887), Gertrude (Mar. 1890), and Grover (1892).
Tabitha Isabelle Drake married Arthur Degroat, and William Hosmer was living with this family in 1900 in the Palmyra Township, Pike County, PA. William was a widower at that time.
Susan Jane Drake was born in Dark Swamp, PA (not NJ). She married 1) John Joseph Singer and 2) William Gahan. She had a total of 10 children, all with John Joseph Singer: an unnamed baby boy who lived 4 days, Walter Arthur, Philip Oliver, Floyd Alfred (my grandfather), Hulda May, Ruth Myrtle, Mary Bertha, Nettie Agnes, Ethel S., and Helen Dortha.
I hope this clears up the misconceptions I inadvertently created.
KAREN
P.S. I can't go backwards or sideways from William Hosmer:(
