John Elwood Householder, 92, of Berkeley Springs, died Tuesday. Service: Friday 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Spohrs Crossroads. Visitation: Thursday 7 to 9 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home.

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - John Elwood Householder, 92, of Berkeley Springs, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007, at Berkeley Springs Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Born Sept. 9, 1914, in Morgan County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Harley L. and Rosetta Wolfell Householder.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Evelyn Eileen Somers Householder, on Dec. 23, 2006.

He attended Spohrs Crossroads School.

He was a farmer in Morgan County.

He was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Spohrs Crossroads, W.Va.

He was a member of Morgan County Farm Bureau.

He is survived by two daughters, Sylvia A. Crouse of Whitacre, Va., and Nancy L. Ruppenthal of Berkeley Springs; one son, Joel S. Householder of Berkeley Springs; two sisters, Opal M. Johnson and Naomi V. Michael, both of Berkeley Springs; one brother, Melvin K. Householder of Paw Paw, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda C. Householder; one sister, Pearl Beddow; one brother, Elmer L. Householder; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Spohrs Crossroads. The Rev. Henry Fisher will officiate. Burial will be in Spohrs Crossroads Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs, and Friday from noon to 1 p.m. at the church. The funeral home will open Thursday at noon.
