Hi Karen ---
I did indeed notice the differences in wives of William Howard, and I forgot to mention Zella Armstrong's version is different yet, though closest to the 1829 & 1883 Editions:
"William deHayward, the Justice, married twice, firstly, Alice Ufford who died without children, and second, Alice Fitten (not Fitton), who was mother to John Howard who married Joan deCornwall, sister to Sir Richard deCornwall.Their son was another John Howard. The foregoing pedigree is from Burke."
A paragraph later she gives the Burke's Peerage page 1128 and the quote I mentioned earlier.
The really neat thing about the CD-ROM's of the GPCo. is their index. If, for example, you search for the name "Howard", it will give you an alphabetized list of ALL the references to Howards in ALL the volumns throughout the entire CD.Clicking on any one will bring up that page of that particular book.It could take hours to do this in a library.Plus, you can print out any page.Plus, the cost is a fraction of the sum of all books on the CD.Plus, I should get a commission from GPC.
