Hello Rick,
This is a marvalous post, and confirms both our thoughts on the location of the Brockdish Howards parish entries.
I have one question pertaining to the Brockdish and Thorpes Abbott registers, what is the earliest date of entry in either of them for any Howards.Since it is assumed that Robert the supposed illigetimate offspring of Ld. Thomas Howard and Margaret Douglas was born in approx. 1537, the dates covered in both Parish registers as you have listed, do not go back far enough to shed any light on this issue.
Also, since A.P. Burke shows that the first born child of Thomas Howard and Alice Wyth was named Robert, and further shows that this Robert is the son who married Phillippa Buxton of Tydenham, it might be beneficial to search the Tydenham register for a date of this marriage. It would give a good indication as to the possible birth date of Robert (the supposed illigetimate child).Since the legal age for marriage at this time was still 14 for males, that would place the earliest date of marriage for Robert and Phillippa Buxton at about 1551-2.
Again, I applaud your research...excellent work, well done.
Cheers,
Karen
