byJOHN BENNETT BODDIE(Jack Howard)
II-449 "A daughter may have married a Sanders. Richard and John Sanders, on 20th October 1689, patented 350 acres "being granted formerly to Thomas Davis,", the 10th of August, 1644 and 50 for the transportation of one person.
On the 20th of august, 1691 , James Howard of Kingsalepatened 500 acres in the Upper Parish of Nansemond formerly in possion of Thomas Davis, one half of a patent of 1000 acres granted Thomas Titus and Nicholas Nixon, October, 1672, "which 500 acres after several surrenders is now in the possession of said James Howard, as marrying the daughyter of said Thomas Titus."
In , in Nansemond, James Howard held 700 acres , and another James Howard (older brother)held twenty five acres. In 1710, James Howard witnessed the will of Francis Cambridge of the Upper Parish of Nansemond. (NC Gen. Reg.). In 1713, James Howardpatented 200 acres in the UP of Nansemond next to Thomas Howard. On October 6, 1729, "MY" James Howard of above Nansemond, and Sarah Titus , wife, made his will in Bertie, N.C. and mentioned a son James (attention Harvey), and brother Edward Howard, "who were of the first of this family to get to Onslow" Co. N.C....to his sons he gave land in Virginia and to Thomas Davis, land lying on Rattlesnake Branchg. A Titus Howard made his will in Jones Co. , N.C. 1796. A John Sanders (Father of Stephen`s (Howard) wife Sarah Sanders), made his will in Onslow, N.C. on BackSwamp Community,in 1733, and mentions many Howard relatives. (N.C. Gen. Reg. Vol., I, P. 388)
Again, John Howard, Esq., who was married to Frances Denson on the Blew (Blue) Creek got to Onslow about 1742 from Bertie, from where his dad and mom were living there on Cooneriscratt/Ahorsky Swamp....He (John Esq.) was the next to the youngest boys....James Howard (Who married Cassandria Brice and Elizabeth (Lovick ?) had left Onslow Co. and also Edward at a later date. James went up about Duplin, et. al. later on.....Had sold land to John`s older son James of the Rev. War fame, who was married to Hester Moore, and I have posted all of this and families et. al.....on Bear (Deep) Creek, and move there in 1752....and in 1762 moved to Topsail Sound on the Fredericks Creek, and called later Virginia Creek.....
This James was the father of My James Whitfield, who married Mary Leith; The parents of Robert James Howard, and Lewis Whitfield Howard. My Lewis W. Howard married Rachel Mallard d. of Southy Rue Mallard of the Area, and also of the Confederate group that Lewis was in. As they married after the war, they had the following children: Bernard; Hester Elizabeth (Simmons); Mary Lillian (No marry); James "Jim", (Cynthia Rebecca Smith) (Julia Ann Simmons), and Elma (Onsby Sidbury)....
Bernard Howard was my grandfather and his 2nd child (Roland B) was my Dad.... Bernard married Eliza Lenora Smithwick, and they had the following children: Lewis Whitfield II (Simmons; Owens); Roland B. (Opal L. Reeves); Rachel Elberta (Leo Norris); Eliza Nora (Howell of Oregon); John Monroe (Evelyn Simmons); Hester Williams (Rufus Reeves); Lilly Mae (Rev. Delma Batson); Earl C. (Norma Lea); Willy Ray (Edna Edens); Betty Lou (Walter Thomas)...
Roland Jack Howard (1933); Joe Garrett (1940); Dr.Carolyn Louise Ham (1948)....were the children of mother and dad: Roland Bernard Howard, and Opal Louise Reeves....
This Howard family having come from Virginia, and arriving on the Topsail Sound; Grovedere; Hampstead area the year 1762, and coming from the Bear Creek Area of Onslow Co. from Bertie, from Nansemond Co., from Isle of Wight, Lower Norfolk Co.(Francis Howard, and Mary Warren, parents of James Howard), and his father was John Haward (Howard) that came to America in 1621, arriving at Jamestowne, and working as a "Clerke", for the "Fish Monger" Edward Bennett, at his Plantation, and this same John being listed as killed during the "Good Friday" massacre there in 1622...... All of his son`s did come later on to America....thru Virginia, and most settling in Maryland, near Annapolis , but not all did go to Md.
This is all documented and solid.....Too, all of the arguments on the webb, and forum relative to Henry Howard that married Anne, and parents of John Haward (Howard) of Jamestowne is documented, for better or worse, thru the LDS, and the Saffron Walden Essex Records office, from whence commeth the only "documentations".....and all others are just neglecting this Henry, and for Arguments sake. Iwill continue to adhere to Henry as the son of the 4th Duke and 2nd wife deAudley, until I can get documentation that he came from other parents......On back too Kevin, and Harvey is (read my cap. print) H I S T O R Y !!
