I am interested in your story. My Grandfather William emigrated to Australia in 1902 and verbal history indicates that a member of the family emigrated to South Africa about the same time. My grandfather had an older brother John born 1849 who was listed as a mechanic in 1871 and single no doubt married in next 5 years. He was born in Bury but the indications are that he was adopted informally into the family. My youngest uncle was Fred born in 1901.
