Howarth /Smith London

I know this is a long shot, but my grandmother's maiden name was Howarth. I know my mother was born in the region of Stepney London in 1926. My grandmother married someone called Smith of all names. My mother had an unusual first name Franklinda, and she had only one sister named Dorothy.
I don't have much to go on yet, still awaiting my mother's birth certificate, lots of documents lost due to WW2. Does anyone have any information regarding any of these details? I believe my grandfather was in the Grenadier Guards, but still awaiting information to follow this up.
Greatly appreciate any help, new to this.
